Bali Car hireHiring your own car on Bali is an excellent alternative. You can travel at your own pace and stop wherever and whenever you want. If you manage to avoid Denpasar (car hire usually starts in Ubud) traffic on Bali is generally quiet because they drive slowly here. You should still keep your wits about you though, even on the smaller roads where the many people and animals walking along the roadside can make unexpected moves. Road signs in the hills can be lacking in places so you might need to stop and ask a local farmer for directions every now and then. When you pick up your rental car you’ll also receive a welcome pack which includes a detailed map of Bali, some information about driving in Bali and traffic rules. We ask that you hand it in when you return the car. You’ll receive your car with a full tank so please make sure you return the car with a full tank as well. Driving distances on Bali are small, but you’ll be surprised how long a relatively short trip can take. Most tourists travel in a small biscuit tin which is fine, but for a more comfortable and less bumpy ride we’d recommend a bigger car with better suspension. And remember, on tropical Bali air-conditioning is precious thing. Cars are provided by Bali Otto link, a reliable organisation with good cars.
